Spring Rebirth: The Bird Print

Okay. With Spring officially here, let's talk bird prints. Because what better way to enter the season celebrated for bringing about new life, then with a bird print. I've been noticing a lot of this novelty print lately. Especially those featuring flamingos, and swans. I feel the need to add one or two of these items to my closet this season!

3 Spring Trend Must Haves

Okay. I struggled to title this post. But ultimately settled with this one because I have deemed these items necessities for Spring --  at least for me. I am not going to tell you to go out and buy these things just because I am, but if you happen to feel inspired to pick up a few of these things, then this post has done its job. Here are just a few things I am pining over this Spring.

1. The Kimono

 2.The Metallic Shoe

3. The Black  Jumpsuit

Pattern Mixing: Stripes

Okay. There is a lot of stripes going on here. But in my bias option, it works. Because the stripes are so subtle, and because it is all tonal, it's not so in your face. Again, I'm using one one my favourite combinations here too -- a complementary colour mix. You can never go wrong with a blue and orange combo. And that is not my bias opinion, that is pure, design principle fact. Throw a little bit of colour on with a little bit of texture and baby you've got an outfit going.**

Big Blooms

Spring. It's almost here! And with that comes a change in scenery. Not only does everything outside start to get more vivid with colour, but so does my wardrobe. I feel more inclined to wear those brightly coloured pants. More confident to wear that brightly patterned top. This Spring, I cannot wait for this Big Blooms trend to take off. Big Blooms meaning, large over-sized florals. Larger than life florals. None of these dainty, intricate florals- I'm talking about huge prints here. I've complied a list of some of the Big Blooms that were taken right from the runway.  See for yourself, they're coming. The big blooms of this season are going to be spectacular!

Found: Faux Sleeve Tie Waste Dress

Okay. I've been pining over the idea of a dress with a faux sleeve tie waste for months now. With this whole 90s grunge revival and shirts being tied around the waist, I was dying for a dress that incorporated this trend. Then, it happened. I saw Jennifer Lawrence on Good Morning America wearing ita dress with faux sleeves tied around her waist.  It was then I knew, it would only be a matter of time before I saw this trend take off.  Finally, I've been seeing dresses that are similar to JLaw's Ulla Johnson dress, popping up here and there. Just recently, I was able to score this amazing dress on ASOS, and now I can finally check this off my to-buy list!

Spring Trend: Periwinkle & Seafoam

Okay. It's not too early to be thinking of Spring is it? No. No, How could it be? Glorious spring weather and longer sunnier days is all that is on my mind these days. As I've been online browsing for new Spring additions lately, I've been noticing a lot of pastel colours popping up in the new arrivals section. And of course this is not new. Pastels and Spring go hand in hand. However, these pastels are different. I've been noticing a lot of muted Periwinkles and Sea Foams. They are just in these perfect fresh shades for spring! Here are just a few of the loveliest items I've found for Spring!

Oversized Scarf Essentials: Plaid & Houndstooth

Okay. I feel like this outfit is a no brainer. A super casual winter look with the quintessential oversized go-to scarf.  If you don't have a go-to scarf then I strongly suggest this weekend you go pick one up. Especially a really nice oversized one in a great print. It's one of these things that can make an outfit go from good to great with minimal effort. This scarf Stephanie is wearing, I have been pining over for months now. I just can't bring myself to buy it simply because I already own one too many scarves. It's amazing because the scarf has this great plaid print on the one side and a houndstooth on the other. What wouldn't mixing two classic prints together bring but sheer beauty?

How to: Re-purpose Summer Clothes for Winter Days

Okay. I understand how crazy the title of this post may seem. You must re-purpose these clothes sensibly of course, and in a way that does not lead to frost bite. Clothing these days I find is no longer seasonal. Lately you can find more stores carrying shorts as well as  dresses in very light weight fabrics in winter. Thus layering is born.  If you're itching to wear your favourite summer skirt you bought on clearance at the end of the season now is the time. You know that skirt you bought but only wore once before you packed it away for the winter? Now is the time to bust it out my friend! Pull out that perfect floral skirt and toss on some thick tights. They even make fleece lined tights these days! I find them warmer than any other pant. Pulling out something summery also helps beat those winter blues. Come on, re-purposing clothing and instant mood booster? Win Win.

HM, 424 Fifth, Pattern, Print

Ah this necklace. I am in love.  I am so very over the huge statement, bib-type necklaces. Which is a shame, considering I own many of them. I mean, I still like them, but in moderation now. I found this choker type necklace at a small gorgeous boutique in Guelph called Blush. At first I loved it. Then when I took it home, I regretted buying it. And now I ever regret regretting buying it. (#noregrets)

Winter Stripes

Okay. I am not by any means saying this is a practical outfit for the weather we have been having in the Toronto area lately. I know my dear reader that you are smarter than that.  This outfit however is perfect for that mild weathered Saturday where you and your dearest cousin decide to take a walk downtown, grab a coffee and explore the cute little shops your town has to offer. And that day, don't be afraid to mix things up with a stripe on stripe pairing. It's totally fine. If done the right way of course. A thin stripe with a thick stripe is good, if done in on a small scale. I mean you could do a full on stripy outfit, but it is really hard to make head to toe stripes in all different varieties look good. Perhaps one day I'll give it a go and try to make it work.  Until then lets just enjoy this outfit of Stephanie's.
