Polka Dot Shorts

Okay humour me here as I go briefly down memory lane. If you were a child of the 90's growing up in Canada you must remember Polka Dot Shorts. The modern more "with it" version of its predecessor Polka Dot Door. For those of you haven't the slightest idea of what I'm going on about, here is a brief glimpse into the world of Polka Dot Shorts.

Okay. Now that we're all caught up to speed, I would like to dedicate this post to Polkaroo; that mythical creature who was so ahead of his (?) time, with his polka dot shorts. Here's to Polkaroo for spearheading the polka dot shorts trend this summer, and to ModCloth who was so smart for catching on.

My sincerest apologies if that theme song is now stuck in your head.

Sarah Stevenson for Target

Winner of the Toronto Fashion Incubator New Labels Competition, Sarah Stevenson has created an exclusive collection for Target.

I'm sorry. What the heck. Why has there not been a bigger hype about the Sarah Stevenson collection for Target?  Yeah. That's right. There is a new designer collaboration with Target out right now and most of us probably don't know about it. Peter Pilotto. That one was all the rage. This one, not so much. And I do not understand why! Okay. Yes. I understand why. She is not a world renowned designer like Peter Pilotto or the other huge names Target has partnered with before. And the collection is only available at Target in Canada. But hello! This collection in my eyes, is way better than some of the previous huge collaborations. This collection is much more practical. It's less outrageous and over the top, and can be worn by far more women.  It's beautiful, feminine and floral and I love it.

4 Floral Dresses to Celebrate Spring

The day has come my friends. Spring. It's finally here! Despite the crummy weather we're having this Spring afternoon in Toronto, I have decided to boost my spirits by looking up some beautiful floral dresses I hope to be wearing soon. No tights and jacket. Just Dress. That'll be the day. The day my legs can see the light of day again will be my happiest day of the year. Until then, here's hoping!

It's a thrifted kind of day

Okay. I wanted to share with you some of my favourite Value Village finds. Yes, that's right, Value Village. For those of you who do not know what Value Village is, let me enlighten you. It's pretty much my Mecca of thrift shops. The name says it all. Value Village. It's an absolute treasure hunt every time I go in. For my American friends, its the Canadian version of Savers. This backpack I scored for a cool $7.00. And the coat, $10.00.  If you haven't gone thrifting yet, I hope that this post has encouraged you to try it out. It's like one of those scavenger hunts you did as a kid. But now, you're looking for way cooler things like vintage designer pieces instead of plastic eggs, and pine cones. It's a magical clothing hunt. Now who isn't down for that?

Pinterest: Floral Overload

Okay. I may be losing my mind slightly these days when it comes to pinterest. There are times when I will google things like "pinterest etiquette" to see if I have surpassed the allowable pin quota for the day. Because yeah, it's come to a point where all I do is pin things, and then look at all the pretty things I've pinned and repeat. So I just wanted to share with you my latest floral board that has consumed my life lately. Enjoy.

Mary Mary Quite Contrary

Mary Katrantzou. That lady had gardens growing out of her dresses this spring. Her spring collection is just magnificent, for lack of a better word. The collection is full of over the top embellishments and bright vivid colours I just can't seem to get enough of.  If I buy anything Mary Katrantzou inspired this spring I will be a very happy camper. Here's to you Mary.

Ann Taylor: A Print Case Study

Ann Taylor | Kaleidoscope Skirt
Ann Taylor | Tile Print Tee

Hello there. If you are a twenty something then this post is for you. I am baffled quite frankly, that us twenty somethings have not yet discovered Ann Taylor as a viable shopping haven.  I know it exudes business career woman. And it may be one of those stores, that when you pass by it in the mall an item in its window display catches your eye,  but something is just holding you back from crossing that threshold inside. Well my friends. I am here to invite you in.  Let me say this first. This post may seem endorsey as hell, but believe you me, I was in no way sponsored to write this.

Yes, Ann Taylor does have a bunch of business items. I'd say their target customer is somewhere between 30 and 50. And no, we twenty somethings don't fit into that. However, stay with me here, among all of the the more grown up, sophisticated lady items they do have items for us too! Here are just a few items in their Spring collection that could be styled up or down, and could be turned into a unique ensemble, just the way we like it. If you're stuck in a shopping rut, going to the same few stores all the time, I encourage you to walk into an Ann Taylor the next time you pass by. What is the worst that could happen?
