Friday Favourites (!)

Alright. It's Friday! And there have been so many great things this week.  Three things in particular made this week so awesome. Lets begin.

1. The New Pornographers

They released their new album this week, and I couldn't be happier. It takes me back to the days of Twin Cinema. Warm, happy, indie pop goodness.

It Continues: Print on Pattern

So. I've been on a patternmixing fix it seems.  I think this mix works because the print on the skirt is tonal and from far away it could be mistaken as a solid.  I originally had the peplum tucked in on the top but it was so hot out I needed some air, and I figured it worked this way too.  I love it when I can say that an outfit (minus the shoes) cost me under $20. It's all about the savings. Both the top and bottom I got on mega clearance, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

Red Brick and Blue Stripes

Hey. It's my stylish friend Eva being featured on the blog again. She's wearing this amazing blue striped shift dress from Topshop, that I'm in love with. I have an obsession with the colour blue. Specifically with this bright blue shade. I'm drawn to it like a woman drawn to a bar of chocolate (sorry for the poor metaphor). So many people think that if they wear a dress it's automatically 'fancy'. I'm actually blown away by that really. Every time I wear even a simple cotton dress, I always get the "Ohhh where are you going dressed all fancy?" So we made this an extra casual affair by pairing the dress with some simple white keds. It's as casual as a dress can get people.

Liebster Award Nominee

What. Crazy Talk. I've been nominated for a Liebster Award. I've only been blogging for a few months now, so I couldn't be more excited. Thanks to the lovely Peach Blossom  for the nomination and questions.

So. This Liebster Award has some rules. Lets get to them.

1. Link back to the person that nominated you for the award
2. You must write 11 facts about yourself so people can learn more about you
3. You also have to answer the 11 questions by the nominator
4. After completing this, you should nominate 11 other bloggers that have under 200 followers and give them 11 questions of your choice. However, you cannot nominate your nominator
5. You have to let your nominees know that they have been nominated and give them access to the link to find out more about the award.

Let's begin.

Perfect Summer Dress

Alright. Let's be real. It's been freaking cold this summer. At least here in Canada. And no, not because it's Canada. Most summers it has been so hot and humid, that I wished it was socially acceptable to wear a bathing suit everywhere I went ( a one piece of course-you have to maintain some form of modesty!) But this summer, that has not been the case at all. So my dear friends, I have found this dress to meet my summer needs. A dress with sheer long sleeves and in a beautiful crisp white colour to emphasize this tan of mine. Because who am I kidding, that's all I really want to show off.

Yes. Those are dimples on my knuckles. I have the hands of a new born.

Pattern Mixing : With Stephanie

Okay. More pattern mixing today.  I feel like pattern mixing is just this thing that everyone does, but I have quickly learned that is not the case. Some people are even overwhelmed by the simple combination of a striped top and patterned bottom. So here is my ridiculously gorgeous cousin to show you how it’s done.

Ugh. Shes so photogenic it makes me sick.

Pattern Mixing Basics : With Isabel

Okay. Let's talk Pattern Mixing 101. I know pattern mixing may seem like this crazy scary thing for some. To be honest I never even thought that it was weird to mix two patterns together. I don't  really consider any 'rules' when mixing two patterns either. But I guess if you are going to consider anything when mixing two patterns is, try and mix a small print with a larger print. That way it's not too in your face crazy. But if that's what you're going for, then hey, why not go for it. I don't think anyone should follow any particular 'rules' per say. Think about all the fashion trends over the decades. They all started by breaking the rules.

How rude of me. I didn't introduce you. This is Isabel. She'll be appearing on the blog from time to time. Because what can I say, she's awesome.

Note: Isa rocks the bold black and white stripe with the small diamond printed shorts.

Floral Print in the Park

Hey. It's Eva! She's becoming a regular on the blog it seems. The first day I saw her wearing this amazing pleated floral skirt from Zara I new it had to be featured on the blog. I mean come on. Look at it! She did the rest of  the styling herself with the lovely white textured shirt, black flats, pearl bracelet. It's perhaps the cutest and most feminine outfit I have ever seen her in. I love it. Perhaps I'm slightly biased but I'm allowed to be. It's my blog!

Talk about heart palpitations : Giambattista Valli

Alright. Let me calm myself for a moment. Okay. I think I'm ready. Oh my goodness. The Giambattista Valli Haute Couture F/W 2014 collection is like no other. I am pretty much speechless here. If you love florals and Mediterranean vintage vibes then this is what heaven will look like for you.  I tried to be selective here with just a few of my favourites, but let me just say that was maybe the hardest decision I've ever had to make writing this blog.

I mean. Come on!

At the Baseball field : Florals & Stripes

Okay. Have you ever bought something that you were so excited to wear and then it just sat in your closet and you would just stare at it thinking "Where am I going to wear you?" That's what happened with this shirt. I love it. I just never knew where to wear it. Or how. I think it was the collar that gave it that extra fancy flare that left me confused how to style it.  But alas it's made its d├ębut, and I couldn't be happier.  You may also notice that I purchased those sandals that were in my July shopping cart.  And they did not disappoint!
